This patient visited Teuim to improve double eye lie line from past surgery.

Her double eyelid line was designed higher than the Mogolian fold’s tension line so her lines have faded away in her inner corner eyes and is covered by Mogolian fold.

After Magic epicanthoplasty the tension of Mongolian fold is released and inner corner double eyelid line is fixed so that the line is clear. Due to epicantho plasty bulging skin at her inner corner eye is now flat and natural.

In this case, the double eyelid line before surgery looked like it was out folder style but actually it just appeared to be one because inner corner was covered by Mongolian fold.

Usually, in-out line or outline is represented with some adequate improvement of Mongolian fold by epicanthoplasty.

In other words, the size of the double eyelid line or curve stays the same, but as the inner corner gets longer, the starting point of double eyelid line meets the starting point of the eyes and the in-out line is represented.

Many people often think that double eye lid surgery revision should be operated when one is not satisfied with somewhat awkward out line double eyelid. If the awkwardness is severe and needs ptosis correction is also required , the revision with epicanthoplasty may be necessary. Parallel double eyelid line is a form of double eyelid that the lines start apart from inner corner of the eyes and the width of the lines remains constant to the outer corner.This type of double eye lid line is shown among Caucasians, who have high forehead and depressed orbital structure compared to her nose, and have no Mongolian fold.

 

For Asians to make proper out folder(parallel) double eyelid, epicanthoplasty is necessary.

Asians have different orbital structure therefore; out folder line may seem awkward even with epicanthoplasty if she doesn’t have skeletal structure close to Caucasians.

This patient had done Uchida epicantho plasty in other plastic clinic in the past and visited our clinc to improve remaining scar.

As you can see, there are W shaped scar on the inner corner of her eyes and the double eyelid lines are distorted due to the epicanthal folds.

So by magic epicantho plasty, we released tension of Mogolian fold and the scar.

This patient had already done double eyelid surgery, but she visited our clinic in order to improve her infolder line(severly tapere line) to look softer and vivid.
Through Magic epicanthoplasty, her eyes became more horizontal with less epicanthal slant.
Her double fold line were also altered to imptoved inout shape so the eyelines look softer and smooth.

This patient had parallel (outline) type of double eyelid surgery without having her mongolian fold removed by epicanthoplasty.
In this case, the tention of epicanthal fold makes the double eyelid line at inner eye weaker and loosen.
This problem can be solved fundamentally by adequately resolving vertical tention of mongolian fold through epicanthoplasty.
Without epicanthoplasty, patients can obtain so called the 'sausage eyes'.

ectopic lacrimal duct hole

This is a case of magic epicanthoplasty of eye with ectopic lacrimal duct hole and wrinkles.

The wrinkle line(blue arrow)is a kind that commonly comes with ectopic lacrimal duct hole.
Most of the time, lacrimal duct hole is placed on upper part of wrinkle. This hole is rarely connected to the normal lacrimal duct, and is usually blocked with wide fibrous tissue, right below the skin.
Eyes with this holes need more sophisticated surgical technique, because tissues near hole which conglutinates fibrous tissue that looks like scar tissue.























The trace of lacrimal duct hole will be minimal, if skin conglutination and the hole is sutured exquisitely after careful analysis of the depth of ectopic lacrimal duct and taking care of no damage in normal tear duct.

 

 

This is a case that show improvement of epicanthal fold with magic epicanthoplasty and handling lacrimal duct hole.
You can see that her eyes got longer horizontally and the front of her eyes are leveling.

It is generally said among plastic surgeons that there is no more difficult surgery than the double eyelid operations. The most difficult problem for a plastic surgeon has been that every eye could not be expressed beautiful under various conditions by only the conventional or pre-existing methods.

 

Many studies about the Mongolian fold and its solution have not been properly suggested, and the results of the surgeries were mostly determined by confined conditions of eyes themselves. No more than 4-5 years ago, many hospitals did not perform epicanthoplasty and the reason for this was that there was no ideal method to eliminate Mongolian folds aesthetically.

 

The Mongolian fold is a characteristic of the Northeast Mongoliod races which makes the distance of between eyes looks longer than its actual distance and forms small, stuffy or unfavorable eyes. Good candidates of eyelid surgery are determined by the degree of the Mongolian folds.

 

An important key is that taking surgery on the eyes without properly managing the Mongolian folds causes unfavorable lines or can be a critical reason for getting your double eyelids to fade away. In fact, most of the problems after double eyelid surgery are caused by the tension of the remaining Mongolian folds.

Would it be right to only take the Magic epicanthoplasty, or should I have to take it with the double eyelid surgery?

 

Although Magic epicanthoplasty and double eyelid surgery require different procedures and are both different surgeries but, undertaking both can give you great results. You must be noted that the heads of your eyes have Mongolian folds so the eyelid forming a double eyelid is a continuous unit of skin.

 

Magic epicanthoplasty can be also performed either to the innate double eyelid or to the surgically made double eyelid. In this case, partial correction of the line near the epicanthal angle(corner) can be required to expose the double eyelid more clearly.

 

Magic epicanthoplasty is also possible to be performed on a single eyelid, and if needed, the double eyelid operation can be done later. However, in most cases of a single eyelid, these two combined surgeries are recommended.
